20 Teaching terms
My glossary is about teaching. I'm not in the program yet but there is some relevant word and their definition. It could be useful to people that are already in the program but also to people like me that aren't in the program.
- Achievement
- Something accomplished, especially by superior ability, special effort, great courage, etc.
- Bilingual
- Able to speak two languages with the facility of a native speaker.
- Blackboard
- A sheet of smooth, hard material, especially dark slate, used in schools, lecture rooms, etc., for writing or drawing on with chalk.
- Book
- A handwritten or printed work of fiction or nonfiction, usually on sheets of paper fastened or bound together within covers.
- Classes
- A group of students meeting regularly to study a subject under the guidance of a teacher.
- Classroom
- A room, as in a school or college, in which classes are held.
- Coworker
- A fellow worker; colleague.
- Curriculum
- The aggregate of courses of study given in a school, college, university, etc.
- Desk
- An article of furniture having a broad, usually level, writing surface, as well as drawers or compartments for papers, writing materials, etc.
- Dissertation
- Any formal discourse in speech or writing.
- Education
- The act or process of imparting or acquiring general knowledge, developing the powers of reasoning and judgment, and generally of preparing oneself or others intellectually for mature life.
- Learning
- The act or process of acquiring knowledge or skill.
- Lesson
- Something to be learned or studied.
- Literature
- Writings in which expression and form, in connection with ideas of permanent and universal interest, are characteristic or essential features, as poetry, novels, history, biography, and essays.
- Pedagogy
- The function or work of a teacher; teaching.
- Phrase
- A sequence of two or more words arranged in a grammatical construction and acting as a unit in a sentence.
- School
- An institution where instruction is given, especially to people under college age.
- Student
- Any person who studies, investigates, or examines thoughtfully.
- Teaching
- The act or profession of a person who teaches.
- Whiteboard
- A smooth, glossy sheet of white plastic that can be written on with a colored pen or marker in the manner of a blackboard.
